So here it is, the last weekend day of Thanksgiving…frozen turkey in the fridge, the stuffing, mashed potatoes and yams all but gone.
So…will we remember to be thankful?
That’s the hard part. Everyone is willing to put together a well-rehearsed speech of thanks during Thanksgiving, but how often do we give thanks the rest of the year? How often do we say “thank you” to those who we should? Common courtesy, yes?
I don’t know how many times I have opened doors for people coming towards me into a bustling quick-mart, or a busy mall and hold open the door, regardless of the bags or drink in my hand and that open-ee waltzes straight in, no thank you and doesn’t even catch the door so I can escape its clutches.
I always make the attempt to say thank you, give thanks for what I have in this life and the people in my life. It may at times seem grim or intolerant, but then I look to other places, other people who have it a lot tougher, and more dangerous, than I ever would.
And I say “thanks!”
So thanks to all! Just for you being there. Thanks for what and who I have in my life.
What are you thankful for year ’round?
