I have touched on the topic of my Scottish (Celtic) ancestory, and will be doing a little experiment about wearing a kilt on a normal day, rather than just special events.
In the past, I have worn my kilt at Scottish festivals, Renaissance Faires, Celtic Festivals or at black tie events. I have received quite a few compliments, and surprisingly, some kudos for having the guts to wear one!
Formal Scottish Highland dress is very popular for the groom at weddings. There are many places you can go to rent an entire outfit as you would a tux. It’s a lot cheaper that way if you aren’t totally into the idea of owning a kilt.
Today, kilts have become more popular than ever. There are many kiltmakers in Scotland, and soon there will be just as many in America. Several new start up companies, such as Utilikilts, and Ameri-Kilts have designed their own signature styles of kilts that are more casual and less expensive than the standard dress kilt. Standard kilts can run anywhere from $400 to $1500 or more depending on style, cut and length of material. Most kilts have 6 to 8 yards of wool tartan material!
What do you cherish and display in regards to your heritage? Would you have the huevos to wear one?

Woo Hoo! Sexy
Is it true what they say “isn’t” under a mans kilt?
heeeyyyyy…what are you talkin’ about…it’s all there!
Utilikilts are very cool, i have 3 of them and have been wearing them for going on 4 years now. Freedom Kilts is another good contemporary kiltmaker, they’re a little bit cheaper and look a bit more formal.
I’ve only ever gotten 1 or 2 negative comments on my kilts from ignorant people, and everywhere i go in them i get compliments from strangers on the streets. to the point where when i don’t feel friendly enough to stop and tell random strangers how and where to get one i usually just wear pants, cuz i *know* as soon as i walk out that door in a kilt i’m going to have people asking.
rock on man,

Old Scifi is the bomb! I grew up watching that stuff all the time.
I agree that kilts have definitely become more popular today- especially with so many kilt forums and even blogs dedicated to them. There’s such a huge choice as well- you can get really expensive kilts for weddings etc, but you can get cheap kilts for football matches or whatever you need them for. I think this has all contributed to their popularity.
