Mac users beware, this is a rant regarding that loathsome icon that is plastered on websites which say “Made on a Mac”! Who cares? It’s HTML, people! It’s not like the Mac does anything different with the coding and HTML in order to cause it to appear as it is supposed to in a web browser! Even if it’s PHP or XML it’s all coding that can be done by hand, or that is done via software that works in essentially the same manner! (ever hear of notepad?)
Come on. It may have been at one time that a Mac could do media better than a PC. But those days are long gone. With a PC you can get a plethora of software, drivers, and features for doing a lot of production, office work, media, and, of course, web design. Not to mention certain other types of software that are not available for Mac’s.
Now before you tell me all the glorious functionality of Macs, don’t start with the worn-out excuse that Mac’s never crash. I have worked on Mac’s and worked with others who used a Mac, and, quite frankly, they had endless crashing issues. I have had my PC for two years and never had a crash.
Plus the commercial on TV that shows the Mac as a hip looking young man, and a PC as a bumbling nerd cracks me up - especially when the “Mac” claims that no viruses effect Macs. Hmmmmm…wasn’t there a virus running rampant recently that attacked only Mac’s? I do believe that “Mac” was fibbing! Ok, so he has to make up stuff to prove Mac’s are better?

And since Mac’s are using the Intel chips, what’s the point of reaching deep into your pockets to shell out $3000 or more for a Mac?
So yes, that is my stance. I have worked on both Mac’s and PC’s and I have never been impressed with Mac’s. It’s just not my thing. I guess I should make an icon that says “Made on a PC” just to keep up with the “Joneses”. What do you think?
