I have many hats and many hobbies.

Yes I keep very busy.

Yes I stretch myself too thin sometimes.

Who cares? I am having fun doing as many things as I can in this lifetime. Isn't that what life is for?
This blog reflects on my lifestyle and philosophies, rants and raves, and hopefully a bit of humor.

I chose this background because it is so artistic, comfortable, and shows both sides of the day. Just like our everyday lives.

Bored

Topics and Blah Blah No Comments »

I seem to be one of those people that get bored easily. I feel sometimes that I have yet to find that one definitive thing that keeps my interest, challenges me a bit, and utilizes my creative side.

Drumming is about the only thing I am not bored with yet, but then again, I do strive to try new drums, or other similar instruments. I also like learning new beats and playing wherever I can. But sometimes it’s not enough.

This is hard, especially at work. I am totally bored with my dead-end job. Granted I have learned a few things, but the daily routines, the same things over and over and over again are way too tedious and I lost interest some time ago.

DOn’t get me wrong, I am happy to be employed. There is something about eating, having a roof over my head, and of course, gas money that is appealing. But it would be nice to work full time out of the house, make my hours and go from there.

Other than blogging, how do you keep your day interesting?

Lopez’ Show Cancelled

My Rants/Raves No Comments »

The network canceled the comedies “George Lopez,” “Help Me Help You” and “Knights of Prosperity.” “What About Brian” did not make the cut, and ABC is still debating the future of “According to Jim,” while leaving it off the fall schedule.

The cancellation angered Lopez, who complained in the Los Angeles Times that his comedy about a Latino family is being dumped in favor of “Cavemen”.

“TV just became really, really white again,” Lopez said.

Talk about a racial slam. This is an older news item, and I have had to think long and hard before writing this. I know it might piss off some, but I am tired of racial slams - from anyone!

Why is it ok for a Latino to make a racially motivated slur against white people when he is pissed off about his television show, but it’s not ok for a white person to complain about illegal immigrants - any illegal immigrants? There is a difference.

Funny…I didn’t see anyone making racial comments when Friends was cancelled.

I am sure there will be somone out there who will think I am being a racist by pointing out the obvious irony here, but, hey, I am sick of the politically correct double standards. If it’s not proper to make jokes, slurs, or racial comments and people such as Imus and others are getting fired for it, why then is it ok for someone else to do it with no repercussions?

When those in the public eye (or anywhere) make such statements, it increases the division between races. Do you ever see these same people going through the media to talk about all the positive things that have been done? Hardly. So why do they only focus on the negative?

I apologize if this hurts anyone’s feelings, but it’s not my intent. Take it as you will, but people from all walks of life will never get along if we don’t stop the endless slams against each other, no matter if it’s race, religion, creed, lifestyle, gender, or body type.

Swing That Pendulum!

My Rants/Raves No Comments »

Why is it that whenever there is an issue with certain people in our society, lawmakers or “leaders” go to extremes and swing the pendulum 180 degrees in order to stop problems?

All they are doing is making the rest of us pay for someone else’s mistakes!

Perfect example: In a Virginia middle school, the administrators have enacted a “no-touch” rule. No touching between students…at all…ever. The offenders face a hefty punishment if they do.

No touching, means literally that; no handshakes, no high-fives, no hugs or anything. The administrations’ reasoning? High-fiving can lead to several kids getting involved, and someone might get “bonked” in the head and it’s too much trouble. The no handshake excuse is that handshaking is considered a gang activitiy. Hugs? No way…too intimate.

You have to watch this video with the administrator attempting to reason why there is no touching. A 13-year old boy is under suspension for giving his girlfriend a quick a-frame hug.  Read more.

Psychiatrists have discussed the importance of human contact, especially to children who are still growing physically and emotionally. No wonder our kids are so screwed up when it comes to emotional health!
