I have many hats and many hobbies.

Yes I keep very busy.

Yes I stretch myself too thin sometimes.

Who cares? I am having fun doing as many things as I can in this lifetime. Isn't that what life is for?
This blog reflects on my lifestyle and philosophies, rants and raves, and hopefully a bit of humor.

I chose this background because it is so artistic, comfortable, and shows both sides of the day. Just like our everyday lives.

Summer Protection

One thing I have realized is that the summer time is a host to skin damage. Between the hot and bright sun to the increase of insect activity, it’s time to protect the outer covering that protects your innards! Read the rest of this entry »

Sleep and Work and Health

One thing I am learning as I grow older…I need more sleep! What’s up with that?

I used to be able to survive off of 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Now, if I don’t get at least 7, I am a zombie. In the work that I do, I sit behind a desk for a better part of the day, and I tend to get very sleepy if I haven’t rested enough.

It’s commonly thought that sitting behind a desk all day is a “cushy” job, but it’s not! It can be just as exhausting sitting, staring at a computer screen and typing all day, as it is to do a more, laborous job. In fact, at least for me, when I am more active physically in a job, I tend to feel more alert and less tired at the end of the day! Read the rest of this entry »

Social Medicine

Holistic Health Arts, My Rants/Raves No Comments »

Our esteemed Gov. Schwarzenegger has been pushing for health coverage for everyone, especially  those who do not have medical insurance, nor can afford it.

There are several other states who have this option, and several others who are pushing to carry a health program for all residents as well. Even Bush has gotten onto the medical insurance bandwagon.

With the obvious interest to make sure everyone has adequate health care, why not just move to socialized medicine, like Canada and Great Britain? The U.S. is on of the only industrialized countries that does not have social medical coverage, so why not?

Cost of health care and prescriptions has skyrocketed, and less an less people are able to afford any health care at all without falling into serious debt. Unless of course you are rich.

I think it’s time to put a stop to outrageous health care costs and make it available to everyone. No one should be turned away from having proper medical coverage! So, yeah, the doctors and big corporations that run health care will have a fit, but so what? What’s more important?
