This, That, and Then Some

Hot and stick, and yes, summer is here. The temp has been going up and up, and it looks like a heat wave coming soon.

As long as I have lived in Southern California, I have never gotten used to the low rainfall and heat of the summer. I don’t know why. But at the very least I don’t live as further inland as I used to. No more 115 degree weather, now it hardly peaks above 100 nearer to the coast. But it has it’s days.

One thing about the coast - it’s humid. It does actually cool down at night at least, rather than staying hot and never really getting relief. Here, the cool afternoon and evening breezes from the ocean keep things comfortable. The shade is almost always nice - just don’t step into the sunlight!

I tend to burn easily, and no tan remains. I go from white to red and then back. So I keep away from direct sunlight as much as possible. Although this weekend was an exception as we had drum gigs and I had to be out in the sun. ACK!

I am desperately awaiting a good solid thunderstorm!

Well, another 4th of July has come and gone. A lot has changed
over the past 250 years or so.

I can’t believe it’s already July. It’s getting hotter here and summer is in full swing. Long before you know it, the days will be short again since the solstice has come and gone. Luckily where we live it is near the coast, so we don’t get the inland temperatures which can run as high as 110 degrees!

The beach of course was packed!!! Then there was the traffic…but, how often do you get a day off during the week? It was nice to drum all night last night with my new band members without worrying about getting to bed earlier to get up for work.

Today was actually really nice, perfect weather for watching a parade, going for a drive, getting caught up in e-mails or blogs…ahem. So I did some things I have been wanting to do for some time, like mixing music, art, etc.

What did you do for the 4th? BBQ ? A trip? Fireworks? Happy 4th everyone!

I seem to be one of those people that get bored easily. I feel sometimes that I have yet to find that one definitive thing that keeps my interest, challenges me a bit, and utilizes my creative side.

Drumming is about the only thing I am not bored with yet, but then again, I do strive to try new drums, or other similar instruments. I also like learning new beats and playing wherever I can. But sometimes it’s not enough.

This is hard, especially at work. I am totally bored with my dead-end job. Granted I have learned a few things, but the daily routines, the same things over and over and over again are way too tedious and I lost interest some time ago.

DOn’t get me wrong, I am happy to be employed. There is something about eating, having a roof over my head, and of course, gas money that is appealing. But it would be nice to work full time out of the house, make my hours and go from there.

Other than blogging, how do you keep your day interesting?
